Text by Joost Glissenaar: Because the wind in the Netherlands blows for 75% of time from the south-west, the waterways are orientated in that direction. The quality of water is improved subsequently because of better flow of the currents which are created by that wind. This decision results also in peninsulas in that orientation. Because of that it is also logic to put dwellings and apartments in the south-west direction. And because of the south-west orientation the dwellings and apartments can profit optimally from the sun orientation.
