Description

Text by Joost Glissenaar: The urban plan is a simple grid. Different layers are put on top of this grid, layers referring to the human body. The  Boksumerdyk is the backbone. Because the dike is crossing 15 canals the dike is designed as a continuous wave. A lymphatic system of gutters is showing the collection of rainwater. The collection of rainwater is also the starting point for the design of the buildings. The buildings are distorted to emphasise the collection of the rainwater. Five big apartment buildings are set around the harbour and a public square in which the collection of rainwater is integrated. The rest of the area is filled in with low rise detached, semi-detached and row houses.
