Description

Text by Matthew Turner: The project proposes a link up to the adjacent IKEA store, who disperses some of its showroom themes (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom etc.) in public spaces of the site. IKEA also runs a housing competition for the site based on prefab housing products (not those currently made by the company, but ones that slot into the buildings on this site). In parallel, the scheme also describes various scenarios for an identity (party town, vacation resort, commuter park), but appears not to conclude on one. The existing buildings appear to be partly destined for dismantling, and a play of architectonic forms placed on the facades is explored.
